Quick Handling Makes Motor Boat Fire Incident In Muara Baru Zero Loss Of Life
JAKARTA - There was a fire on the Rani motorboat at the west pier, Nizam Zachman Ocean Fishing Port, Muara Baru, Penjaringan, North Jakarta, Saturday, April 9 in the morning WIB. Luckily, there were no casualties in this incident.
The Head of Muara Baru Police, Adjunct Commissioner M. Debby Tri Andrestian, said that fast handling was the key to no casualties in this fire.
"Thank God there were no casualties, because our handling was fast and we immediately evacuated so that the fire did not spread everywhere," Debby told reporters in North Jakarta, as reported by Antara.
Debby added that his party immediately took steps to prevent the fire from spreading at the scene after receiving a report from the crew of the ship loaded with squid.
He said this incident occurred at 2:30 WIB. The blackout process took approximately one hour.
"The fire was extinguished at 03.30 but for cooling around 04.30 to 05.00 in the morning it had already started cooling for the ship," said Debby.
Police personnel for the Muara Baru area are still investigating the cause of the ship's fire. Debby said that currently there are three witnesses being examined, namely the captain, the captain and the head of the engine room of the ship.
Based on provisional information, it is suspected that the fire was triggered by a generator in the engine room causing sparks and then the fire ignited.
"The initial cause of the fire is still being investigated and we can't estimate the loss yet, because we haven't yet, we are still investigating, examining witnesses, including the ship's owner," he said.
So far, three witnesses have been examined, namely the captain, the captain and the head of the engine room.
