Chinese Foreign Minister: The Main Cause Of The Ukraine Crisis Is The Imbalance Of The European Security System

JAKARTA - The imbalance in the current European security system is one of the main reasons behind the Ukraine crisis, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said in a telephone conversation with French Foreign Minister for European Affairs Clement Beaune, China's Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

"The main cause of the Ukraine problem is the imbalance in the European security system," Wang Yi said, as quoted by the ministry, TASS reported April 8.

"There is a need to follow the principle of indivisible security and re-create a balanced and effective security mechanism in Europe. This is the only way to build lasting peace and stability in Europe," the top Chinese diplomat stressed.

Foreign Minister Wang Yi also stressed that all parties should facilitate peace talks between Russia and Ukraine, while trying to reduce hostilities.

"You can't call for a ceasefire and at the same time, continue to send large quantities of weapons and ammunition, increase hostilities," said Foreign Minister Wang Yi.

It is known that Russia launched a special military operation on Ukrainian territory on February 24 to carry out demilitarization and denazification. Ukraine and the West called it an attack without reason.

The number of dead and injured continues to grow by the day, with millions more civilians displaced. Russia itself has been sanctioned repeatedly, with their most recent suspension from the UN Human Rights Council.
