Ex-member Of The DPR Corruption Prisoner E-KTP Markus Nari Executed To Sukamiskin Prison

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) executed a convicted person in the e-KTP corruption case, Markus Nari. The former DPR member from the Golkar Party faction was thrown into the Class IA Sukamiskin Penitentiary, West Java.

Acting KPK spokesman Ali Fikri said Markus entered the Sukamiskin Prison on Thursday, October 1 yesterday. He was sentenced after the sentence against him was legally binding.

"The execution prosecutor has made the Supreme Court's decision on July 13, 2020 on behalf of the convicted person Markus Nari to the Class IA Sukamiskin Penitentiary to serve a reduced prison term of eight years while in detention," Ali said in a written statement, Friday, October 2.

Markus was also sentenced to pay a fine of Rp.300 million, a subsidiary of eight months in prison. In addition, he also had to pay a replacement fee of 900 thousand US dollars.

"If the convict does not pay replacement money at the latest within one month after the court verdict has obtained permanent legal force, then his property can be confiscated by the prosecutor and auctioned off and if the convict does not have sufficient assets to pay the money, he will be punished with imprisonment. three years, "said Ali.

In addition, Markus Nari was sentenced to an additional sentence in the form of revoking the defendant's right to hold public office for five years, starting from the time the convict finished serving his sentence.

Markus Nari was previously sentenced to six years in prison at the Jakarta Corruption Court (Tipikor). Furthermore, when he appealed, his sentence was increased to seven years.

He is considered guilty of having enriched himself, others, and corporations in the e-KTP procurement project at the Ministry of Home Affairs. In addition, Markus was also proven to have obstructed the process of investigating the case which also ensnared former Chairman of the Indonesian Parliament Setya Novanto and a number of Ministry of Home Affairs officials.
