Chairman Of The DPRD Bogor City Value Of Cooking Oil BLT Rp300 Thousand Jokowi's Policy Is Not Right, Alludes To The Government's Helplessness In Dealing With Market Rulers

BOGOR - Chairman of the Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) of Bogor City, West Java, Atang Trisnanto, assessed that the central government's policy of direct cash assistance (BLT) for cooking oil worth Rp. 300 thousand for the next three months to the community was not appropriate.

"It's like a sick child falling and getting injured, what we do is not to treat the sore area, but instead to give ice cream. It's true that the child stops crying, but it doesn't solve the main problem," said Atang, quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, April 7

According to him, the cooking oil BLT policy further proves the government is powerless against the rulers of the Indonesian cooking oil market.

This BLT policy is detrimental to at least two things. First, the state budget that should be used for other things will actually be sucked in.

Whereas with power, the government should be able to regulate and manage the supply chain and distribution of cooking oil, without having to spend money. These costs can be diverted to other more urgent matters such as fuel and gas subsidies which are also increasingly burdensome.

Atang also believes that the losses of these two BLTs will not immediately solve the high price of cooking oil that is felt by all Indonesians.

While recipients of the Non-Cash Food Assistance (BPNT), the Family Hope Program (PKH) and street vendors (PKL) who sell fried foods receive subsidies, there are still many other people who also have difficulty dealing with the price and scarcity of cooking oil stocks.

"So let's say that those who get BLT can buy it. Then, what about those who don't get BLT. Will their fate be left alone? I believe the Government is not ready with data on how many MSMEs are really affected, how many families are affected, as well as the validity of the data on BLT recipients. last pandemic," he said.

Atang said that based on the policies that have been taken, there are several steps that must be prepared by the government. In addition to determining the right group, it also ensures the right distribution process with the help of accurate data collection from the local government.

However, if it is still possible, he said, the government should settle matters with CPO producers, cooking oil producers, and regulate trade and supply distribution with state power.

"God willing, solving the core problem without having to spend state money and the community will feel all the benefits," he said.
