Makassar Transportation Service Officer Shooting Case, Police Examine Eight Witnesses

MAKASSAR - The South Sulawesi Regional Police have examined eight witnesses related to the shooting of the Makassar City Transportation Service officer, the late Najamuddin Sewang on Jalan Danau Tanjung Bunga, on Sunday, April 3.

"Eight witnesses were examined. First, the witness who saw directly at the TKP, the second was from the family and the hospital (Siloam Hospital)," said Head of Public Relations of the South Sulawesi Regional Police Kombes Komang Suartana in Makassar, reported by Antara, Thursday, April 7.

For handling this case, he said, until now, investigators from the Directorate General of Criminal Investigation and General Crime (Ditreskrimum) of the South Sulawesi Police have continued to assist the Makassar Police's Criminal Investigation Unit for the disclosure of this case.

In addition to the eight witnesses, the police are still developing this case considering that there are other witnesses or vehicles recorded on CCTV when the incident occurred, including online motorcycle taxi drivers (ojol) who were at the location.

"Investigators are still investigating. So, we are trying to carry out a professional examination. The question of the vehicles that stop and pass or the two-wheeled motorcycle taxi drivers will soon be examined as witnesses," he said.

Regarding the motive for the incident, Komang said, investigators at the Polrestabes and the South Sulawesi Regional Police are being assisted to uncover the case, including the results of the autopsy of the victim awaiting official results from the Forensic Laboratory of the South Sulawesi Police Biddokes.

"We are still waiting for the results of the hospital autopsy, and we are waiting for the results of the Labfor test related to the projectiles in the victim's body. We are still waiting," he said. Regarding information circulating on social media, there was a red four-wheeled vehicle caught on CCTV and an ojol driver in a yellow jacket crossed the victim before falling at the scene, his party emphasized that investigators would professionally check whether the red car was an online taxi or not, as well as the ojol driver in a jacket. yellow.

"After what is in the CCTV (recording) everything is still being developed by investigators. Investigators are still investigating the yellow jacket person who crossed the victim before the incident," said Komang.

Previously, the investigation team had examined four members of the victim's family at the Makassar Police Station. The witness was examined for seven hours by being asked a number of questions about the life of the victim before he died. The victim's wife's cellphone was also confiscated by officers for the investigation process. Meanwhile, other witnesses have been examined by South Sulawesi Police investigators.
