Coordinating Minister Muhadjir said that Soekarno-Hatta International Airport would be the central point so that it needed to be well prepared, starting from prokes procedures, provision of fleets and their feasibility, as well as the preparation of outlets or vaccination services.
"There are around 8-9 million people who will go home via air transportation. For that, we are trying to prepare it ahead of time, including at Soekarno Hatta Airport," said Muhadjir as quoted by Antara, Thursday, April 7.
Muhadjir added that the safety aspect is a major concern that must be prepared seriously.
"Hopefully there will be no unexpected events during the implementation of the homecoming, both departure and return," he said.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Transportation said that safety and health factors are two important things that must be properly monitored by all stakeholders in the air transportation sector.
The Minister of Transportation said that the peak of the homecoming flow by airplane will occur on April 30, 2022, while the peak of the return flow is predicted to occur on May 8, 2022.
To anticipate the surge in passengers, the airport will have additional operational hours of up to 24 hours.
"We know that the number of aircraft has decreased relatively compared to previous years. Therefore, we compensate with a longer airport operating period, some even 24 hours, as the Director General of Civil Aviation said, so that the aircraft rotates more," said the Minister of Transportation. .
Currently, there are 335 fleets of various types from 11 scheduled airlines, both wide body and narrow body aircraft, which are ready to serve people's movements during the Lebaran transportation period in 2022.
