Police Issue DPO Status For Cai Changpan, Death Convict, Escaped From Prison

JAKARTA - The police finally published the status of the wanted list (DPO) for Cai Changpan, a death sentence convicted for drug cases. During two weeks of searching, Cai Changpan, who escaped from the Tangerang Class I prison, has not been found.

"That's right, so I have entered the DPO with those concerned, that's right," said Head of Public Relations of the Jakarta Metro Police, Kombes Yusri Yunus, to reporters, Thursday, October 1.

On the DPO leaflet, two versions of the photo of Cai Changpan are displayed. In addition, the complete identity of the drug convict is also written.

"The name is Cai Changpan alias Antoni. Age 53 years, Chinese nationality in narcotics case," reads the Cai Changpan DPO leaflet.

The leaflets also wrote criminal threats against anyone who tried to protect Cai Changpan.

Because of that, people who know about Cai Changpan's whereabouts are asked to report it to the telephone number listed.

"Article 223 of the Criminal Code, whoever deliberately releases or helps, protects a detained person or a convict can be sentenced to two years and eight months," he wrote.

Cai Changpan alias Antoni escaped from the Tangerang Class I Prison on Monday, September 14. He escaped by making a hole in the wall and entering the sewer. In the cell were found shovels and several other tools that were thought to have been used to escape.

Quoted from the Supreme Court (MA) directory, Cai Changpan alias Antoni was sentenced to death by the Tangerang District Court on July 19, 2017 for a drug case. This death row inmate then submitted an appeal to the Banten High Court on September 28, 2017, but was rejected.

Cai Changpan was found guilty of a case of methamphetamine drugs with 1,135 plastic packs of evidence. The total weight of methamphetamine is stated in the court decision to reach 135 kilograms.
