East Java Governor Khofifah Targets Semeru Eruption Survivors To Occupy Shelters Before Eid
LUMAJANG - East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa is targeting survivors of the Mount Semeru hot cloud (APG) disaster to occupy temporary shelter (huntara) in Sumbermujur Village, Lumajang Regency before Eid.
"Before Eid al-Fitr, the APG Gunung Semeru refugees can immediately occupy shelters and permanent residences (huntap). Especially now that electricity and water installations have been installed," said Khofifah in Lumajang as reported by Antara, Wednesday, April 6.
That way, he continued, it will soon be possible to hand over the housing to the survivors and they will live in the new location that has been built in mutual cooperation.
"Temporary housing and permanent housing in Lumajang are very complete, because they have calculated the entire economic ecosystem as well as its natural ecosystem," said Khofifah.
Not only that, he continued, the planning is also very good, so it hopes to be a reference for disaster relocation formats in other places in East Java.
"We ask that President Joko Widodo will later be pleased to inaugurate temporary and permanent housing after all installations are completed," he said.
According to him, to expedite the process of cleaning and tidying up the entire surrounding environment as well as supporting facilities in temporary and permanent residences prior to the inauguration and the process of being occupied by the survivors of APG Gunung Semeru, community service can be carried out in a cash for work format.
"I conveyed to the Regent that it could be categorized as cash for work or labor-intensive, so that those who work to clean up the rest of the construction will also get wages," he said.
Khofifah also appreciated the Kwarda Scouts of East Java for continuing the construction of temporary housing for the survivors of APG Semeru by building 10 temporary housing units and previously built 19 units in the first phase.
Meanwhile, the Regent of Lumajang Thoriqul Haq expressed his appreciation and respect for the Scouts who participated in providing assistance, attention and concern for the Lumajang community since the hot cloud disaster that fell from Mount Semeru on December 4, 2021.
