Watch Out! Hold Your Cellphone Tightly, Burst Mode, Pretend To Ask For Address
JAKARTA - East Jakarta Metro Police personnel arrested two men suspected of attempting to snatch Tea Dora Siregar's phone by pretending to ask for an address in Duren Sawit on Monday, April 4.
The Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit (Kasatreskrim) of the East Jakarta Metro Police AKBP Ahsanul Muqaffi said the two men who were arrested had the initials J and A. The robbery began when the victim was sitting with his colleague in front of the shop.
"While the victim and witness were chatting, two unknown perpetrators pretended to ask for the address and then withdrew the victim's cellphone," said Ahsanul Muqaffi in Jakarta, Wednesday, April 6.
Ahsanul added that there had been a tug of war between the victim and the perpetrator who tried to snatch the cell phone.
"The victim and the witness reflexively reclaimed the 'mobile phone', there was a tug of war until the hat belonging to the perpetrator fell and the 'mobile phone' that had been successfully controlled by the perpetrator could be retrieved by the victim," said Ahsanul.
He explained that the arrests of the two perpetrators were based on the identification of the police number of the motorbike being ridden by the perpetrator and based on the surveillance camera footage at the scene.
Armed with this, the police then went to the home address of the police number for the motorbike driven by the perpetrator.
"Arriving at that address, we met with a witness on behalf of Agung and got an explanation that perpetrator J used to rent a house at his house and then borrowed his ID card for a motorbike loan," said Ahsanul.
Perpetrator J was arrested not far from Agung's house on Tuesday, April 5 at around 23.50 WIB. Meanwhile, perpetrator A was arrested on Wednesday morning at around 00.40 WIB.
The police also secured evidence in the form of A's hat which fell at the scene, the sweater and pants that A and J wore when they grabbed them and the two-wheeled vehicle used during the action.
