Circulating Videos Of People Being Offered IDR 15 Million As Long As They Pretend To Have COVID-19, Task Force Pushes To Police Report

AKARTA - The video contains the confession of a man who was promised Rp.15 million as long as he wants to become a COVID-19 patient or pretends to be positive for the response from the Spokesperson for the Task Force for Handling COVID-19 Wiku Adisasmito. Wiku emphasized that the attempt to 'fabricate' the fake COVID-19 with a promise that money could be reported to the police.

"I don't know yet. But things like that are not true," Wiku said when confirmed by VOI, Thursday, September 1.

According to him, if people hear such stories from irresponsible parties, they can report it to the police.

"Report to the police. Because the police are part of the Task Force. Report to law enforcement. Nothing, and nothing of the sort," he said.

Wiku appealed to the public not to worry if they tested positive for COVID-19. This is because the government will bear the costs of getting treatment until it recovers.

"It reminds us that if there are positive patients, all costs are borne by the government," said Wiku.

Previously, the video by the tiktok account @SlideGossip showed a conversation between a woman and a man. The two discussed the existence of fraudulent practices pretending to be COVID-19 patients.

The man who appeared to be wearing a black shirt and white mask said that he was offered Rp.15 million. But with the condition that you have to pretend to be a COVID-19 patient and be hospitalized.

"Yes, that was earlier, met the person, yes he was hospitalized," said the man.

The woman wearing a black shirt and mask also asked questions about where the hospital was located. Calmly, the man mentioned Sulawesi Province.

"In Sulawesi, the hospital has yet to be determined. The important thing is to agree, there will be an agreement first," he replied.

Then, the woman again asked questions related to what occurred to the man who was not identified when he got the offer. The man immediately replied to agree with the offer.

"Yes, I want it, for the current situation it is difficult like this, yes I want. There is no problem," he said.

In fact, the man said he didn't mind the offer at all. Because, he felt sure that he would stay healthy even though he was hospitalized.

At the end of the conversation, the woman mentioned the origin of the information regarding the offer. He said that the person making the offer was allegedly a motorcycle taxi driver at Tambun station, Bekasi. In fact, he asked the man to indicate the location.
