Sabang Aceh Rocked By M 5.6 Earthquake, No Tsunami Potential

JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) reported an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.6 in Sabang City, Aceh.

The earthquake with a depth of 10 kilometers occurred at 12:29 p.m. local time, Wednesday, April 6.

"Mag:5.6, 06-Apr-22 12:29:45 WIB," wrote the BMKG on its Twitter account, @infoBMKG.

The coordinates of the earthquake were at 7.39 North Latitude, 94.51 East Longitude, with the epicenter at sea 188 km northwest of Sabang City.

The BMKG informed that although the point of the earthquake was at sea, the shaking did not cause a tsunami.
