Police Search For Information On Faking Positive COVID-19 To Get IDR 15 Million
JAKARTA - Circulating videos on social media show the recognition of someone who was promised Rp. 15 million as long as they want to become a COVID-19 patient or pretend to be positive. The police said they would trace this information.
In the video threaded by the tiktok account @SlideGossip, you can see a conversation between a woman and a man. Both of them discussed the existence of fraudulent practices pretending to be COVID-19 patients.
The man, who appeared to be wearing a black shirt and white mask, said that he was offered Rp. 15 million. But with the condition that you have to pretend to be a COVID-19 patient and be hospitalized.
"Yes, that was earlier, met the person, yes he was hospitalized," said the man.
Then, the woman wearing a black shirt and mask raised a question about where the hospital was located. Calmly the man mentioned Sulawesi Province.
"In Sulawesi, the hospital has not been determined. The important thing is to agree first, there will be an agreement," he replied.
Then, the woman again asked a question related to what occurred to the man who was not identified when he got the offer. The man immediately replied to agree with the offer.
"Yes, I want it, for the current situation it is difficult like this, yes I want. There is no problem," he said.
In fact, the man said he didn't mind the offer at all. Because, he felt sure that he would stay healthy even though he was hospitalized.

At the end of the conversation, the woman mentioned the origin of the information regarding the offer. It was said that the person making the offer was suspected of being a motorcycle taxi driver at Tambun station, Bekasi. In fact, he asked the man to indicate the location.

Separately confirmed about this, Karo Penmas, Police Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Awi Setiyono, said that he would coordinate with Bareskrim to follow up on this information.
"Later I will coordinate with Bareskrim to investigate this case," he said.
