Once Extinguished, The Fire Flared Again At Suzuya Mall Banda Aceh
BANDA ACEH - The process of extinguishing the fire at Suzuya Mall Banda Aceh, Aceh, has not ended. It has been 10 hours firefighters are still trying to contain the fire that devoured the contents of the shopping center.
"It was extinguished earlier, the fire has started to grow again," said Acting Head of the Banda Aceh City Fire and Rescue Service (DPKP), Yubasri, quoted by Antara, Monday, April 4 night.
Suzuya Mall Banda Aceh is located on Jalan T Umar Gampong Setui, Baiturrahman District, Banda Aceh City.
Previously the fire was extinguished. Even the firefighters (damkar) have also made cooling efforts. The fire fleet returned to the post at around 17.45 WIB.
However, at around 19.30 WIB, the fire grew again and spread to the entire second and third floors.
As of 22.00 WIB, the fire still cannot be extinguished. Firefighters from Banda Aceh and Aceh Besar continued to work hard to tame the fire.
During the incident, as many as 20 fire engines and one water cannon were deployed to the scene.
The firefighters are still going back and forth taking turns extinguishing the fire. Firefighters are also scattered outside and inside the building to extinguish the fire.
Thousands of people also thronged the location around Suzuya Mall Banda Aceh, to witness the action of "the red rooster" which had been going on since that afternoon.
Police personnel also regulate traffic, as well as put up police lines so that residents don't get too close to the fire location.
According to Yubasri, the officers were overwhelmed in extinguishing the fire, because all the materials in the shopping center were flammable.
"Because all of these materials are flammable. So we take a break for a while and it spreads again. Hopefully this can be resolved quickly again," he said.
So far, there have been no casualties in this incident.
"It is suspected that the cause of the fire is an electrical short, but further developments are still under investigation by the police," said Yubasri.
