So That Children Are Not Afraid Of Syringes, Madiun City Government Holds Vaccine Tour

MADIUN - The Madiun City Government held a vaccine tour for elementary school-aged (SD) children to attract children aged 6 to 11 years to be vaccinated against COVID-19.

Mayor of Madiun Maidi said the vaccine tour was deliberately carried out so that unvaccinated children immediately received an injection of COVID-19 vaccine, both doses 1 and 2. According to the plan, the vaccine tour will be held at Sumber Wangi Park starting Wednesday, April 6.

"Tomorrow, Wednesday (6/4), the school has started after the early fasting holiday, so our tour bus picks up children who have not been vaccinated. After the vaccine they are invited to tour the city, then return to their school. So it's called Madiun City Vaccine Tour, " said Mayor Maidi as quoted by Antara, Monday, April 4.

According to him, the vaccine tourism activity was carried out in preparation for Eid. The hope is that all children in Madiun City will be vaccinated during Eid so that they can avoid the spread of COVID-19.

As for the implementation, the Education Office will cooperate with the Health Office and other related parties to collect data on children who have not been vaccinated.

Head of the Madiun City Health, Population Control and Family Planning Office, dr. Denik Wuryani said that his party had coordinated with the Education Office regarding data on students who had not been vaccinated. Also, coordinate with the Department of Transportation regarding tourist bus accommodation.

The target of this vaccine tour is children aged 6-11 years. Vaccine tours may be held in two to three days. While the type of vaccine provided according to the provisions is Sinovac.

"We provide vaccine tours for children aged 6-11 years. The goal is to complete the first and second doses of vaccination. The type of vaccine is Sinovac," said Denik.

Denik explained that the vaccination of children aged 6-11 years in Madiun City has exceeded the target, even reaching 105 percent of the target of 15,657 people. However, the vaccine tour is a form of facilitation from the Madiun City Government for children who currently have not received a vaccine injection. The goal is to increase communal immunity or "herd immunity".

Because of that, his office continues to carry out monitoring until it is certain that no child is missed from the vaccine.

Regarding vaccination booth activities at Taman Sumber Wangi for the public, an extension was also carried out until April 22, 2022. Not only doses 1 and 2, booster vaccination is also available at this location for Indonesian citizens over 18 years of age.

"Until now, people's enthusiasm for getting vaccinated is very high. One day it can reach 300-400 visitors. Mostly in the afternoon," said Denik.
