Police Arrest 1.2 Ton Grain Thief In Gresik
GRESIK - Police arrested a grain thief weighing 1.2 tons or as many as 20 sacks in Kandangan Village, Cerme District. The value of the loss reached Rp. 6.6 million.
Cerme police chief, AKP Musihram said the theft at the beginning of Ramadan was carried out when the victim Sunarto was outside the house. The victim saw someone stopped west of his rice mill warehouse on Monday, April 4 in the morning.
At that time, Sunarto immediately contacted his son, Sahid. Not long after, Sahid came with several people to the warehouse where the thieves were suspected of having entered.
"Sahid and his colleagues saw that in the warehouse there was already a black pickup truck, which was allegedly used by the perpetrators to transport stolen grain," said Musihram, as quoted by Antara.
When caught, the pickup truck numbered W-8367-DX was already filled with 20 sacks of unhusked grain. Residents rushed to report to members of the Cerme Police who were on patrol, and immediately secured a person suspected of being the perpetrator of the theft and was in the warehouse.
"We secured the suspect named Akbar Setia Pambudi, a resident of Katimoho Village, Kedamean District, Gresik Regency who was in the warehouse, and secured evidence of 20 sacks of rice grain," he said.
In addition to the pickup truck, the police also seized three broken padlocks and a 36-inch metal scissor or cutter.
"The suspect is threatened with being snared under Article 363 paragraph (1) 3 and 5 of the Criminal Code and is currently being held at the Kedamean Sector Police," he said.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Gresik Police, AKBP Mochamad Nur Azis asked his members to improve security and social order in the local area, because at this time community activities began to increase.
"Citizens' activities are currently increasing because it is also entering Ramadan. Therefore, it must be accompanied by increasing patrols, creating a security and social security situation during Ramadan," he said.
