National Police Chief: I Am Looking For A Substitute Player If It Is Being Druged, Such As Vegetable Chicken

JAKARTA - National Police Chief General Idham Azis said he would not hesitate to replace the Director of Drugs (Dirnarkoba) in the Province if they did not have the courage to take action against drug offenders. He conveyed this during a virtual working meeting with Commission III of the DPR RI.

Idham said drug crimes from the beginning had been his focus. In fact, when he served as Kapolda Metro Jaya he issued orders to take firm action against the perpetrators.

"I am committed to this drug problem, sir. If you have heard what I said, when I was released at the Jakarta Police Headquarters in 2017. In fact, I have not withdrawn the order until now to take firm action against all dealers, especially those from abroad," he said. Idham during a meeting broadcast on Parliament TV, Wednesday, September 30.

He emphasized that all staff members must take firm action against the perpetrators in accordance with applicable operational standards. If any of his subordinates are afraid or soft with the perpetrators of drug crimes, Idham admits that he doesn't hesitate to let them go.

"I already said Dirnarkoba, if he was afraid I would look for a substitute. A lot of it was a substitute player if Dirnarkoba was like vegetable chicken. So I want Dirnarkoba not to be like vegetable chicken," he said.

Even though he threatened to replace those who were afraid to work, Idham also praised those who had done well.

"It's like Dirnarkoba Polda Metro Jaya is good. Dirnarkoba Polda Metro Jaya, North Sumatra, Riau, I like that. I even asked the number of shoes, sir, what is the shoe number," he said with a laugh.

During the meeting, Idham also reported the work of his subordinates in exposing the circulation of crystal methamphetamine. From January to August, 29,615 cases were successfully identified with 38,960 suspects.

In addition, the evidence that was secured was 4.75 tons of crystal methamphetamine; 41.5 tons and 77.1 hectares of cannabis; ecstasy 637,773 items; heroin 39.4 kilograms; and 306.8 grams of cocaine.

He also revealed, there are a number of drug cases that have caught the public's attention, such as the disclosure by the Red and White Satgassus of 821 kilograms and 402 kilograms of crystal meth; Polda Metro Jaya 288 kilograms of crystal meth and 336 kilograms of marijuana; Polda Bangka Belitung 200 kilograms of shabu; and the West Sumatra Regional Police for 100 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine and 50 thousand ecstasy.
