The Regent Of Alor, NTT, Is Ready To Resign If A Citizen Died Of COVID-19
JAKARTA - The Regent of Alor, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Amon Djobo admits that he will risk his position if a citizen is infected with COVID-19 and dies. The Regent of Alor is ready to resign if the implementation of the 14th Alor Expo and the 7th Alor Carnival raises a new COVID-19 cluster.
"I bet my position. If someone gets COVID-19 and dies I will quit my position. But if someone is sick, of course the government will take care of all of them. People don't need to worry," said Regent Alor, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, September 30.
The Expo Alor and Alor Carnival opens Monday, September 28 and closes on October 3. This activity is called the Regent of Alor for community economic empowerment.
"Yes, not because there is COVID-19 and in the end we too cannot do anything which will lead to stagnation of the economic cycle. What will people eat if the economy does not work," he said.
The Regent of Alor ensures that the Alor Expo and Alor Karnaval will continue to be carried out with strict health protocols. Amon said that the eight entrances to the carnival area themselves were closely guarded by security forces, both the police, the army and the Sat Pol PP, whose task was to monitor whoever entered, had to wear a mask.
"If there are no masks, then not washing your hands will be prohibited from entering," he said.
The activity carried out also aims to empower the public to remain disciplined in carrying out the COVID-19 health protocol during the pandemic.
"For this reason, I ask the people of Alor not to be overly afraid of COVID-19. Do not let COVID-19 sleep for a long time which results in no one doing activities for economic rotation. People must continue to carry out their activities to support their lives, both households. as well as the local economy must develop, "added the Regent of Alor.
