BMKG Predicts Heavy Rain In Most Areas Of Indonesia

JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts that most areas in Indonesia have the potential to experience heavy rain accompanied by lightning and strong winds, including most of Sumatra, Java, and Kalimantan.

In a weather early warning quoted on the BMKG website from Jakarta, Monday, April 4, it is predicted that heavy rains may occur in the Aceh region, Riau. Riau Islands, Jambi, Bangka Belitung Islands, Lampung, Banten, West Java, Central Java, Yogyakarta, East Java and Bali.

There is also the potential for heavy rains in West Nusa Tenggara, West Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, North Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, South Kalimantan, North Sulawesi, Gorontalo, Central Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, Maluku, West Papua and Papua.

The BMKG predicts that it will rain with lighter intensity in North Sumatra, South Sumatra, DKI Jakarta, South Sulawesi, and North Maluku.

For the Jakarta area, light rain is forecasted during the day in West Jakarta, Central Jakarta, South Jakarta, East Jakarta, and North Jakarta.

The BMKG also warned that several areas were included in the alert category for the impact of heavy rains such as floods, namely Central Java and East Java.

Meanwhile, for the flood alert category, there are areas in Aceh, North Sumatra, Lampung, DKI Jakarta, West Java, D.I. Yogyakarta, Banten, West Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, South Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, North Kalimantan, Central Sulawesi, South Sulawesi and Papua.
