Mkhitaryan's Goal Takes AS Roma Silences Sampdoria

JAKARTA - Henrikh Mkhitaryan became the hero of AS Roma's victory after his goal earned them a 1-0 win at home to Sampdoria in the Italian League match at Luigi Ferraris, Monday night early western Indonesia time.

Quoted from Antara from the Italian League page, this victory made Jose Mourinho's team occupy the fifth place with a score of 54 points. While Sampdoria is in 16th place with 29 points.

The duel takes place openly where the two teams exchange attacks. Both Sampdoria and Roma both struggled to create dangerous chances at the start of the match.

Sampdoria created their first golden opportunity in the 20th minute when Francesco Caputo filled the space in the box for a powerful shot but his shot was caught by Rui Patricio.

Seven minutes later Roma scored when Nicola Zalewski's low cross from the left created chaos in front of Emil Audero's goal. The ball that was swept by Morten Thorsby was struck by Henrikh Mkhitaryan so the position changed to 1-0 for the visitors.

After the break, Sampdoria tried hard to equalize. They created a chance in the 66th minute when Tommaso Augello's cross was controlled by Abdelhamid Sabiri in the penalty area, but Sabiri's shot was too weak to easily catch Patricio.

The hosts continued to pound the Roma defense but the position 1-0 did not change until the game was finished.
