Tarawih Prayers Can Be Congregated In Mosques During Ramadan 2022, Jokowi: COVID-19 In Indonesia Can Be Controlled

JAKARTA - The month of Ramadan 2022 feels very different from the previous two years. This time, the Indonesian people are able to perform Tarawih prayers in mosques without any restrictions from the government.

President Joko Widodo also expressed his gratitude because the COVID-19 case in Indonesia has been controlled so that people can pray tarawih in congregation at the mosque. According to him, this is thanks to the hard work of all parties

As is known, in Ramadan 2020 and 2021, the government asks the public to perform Tarawih prayers at home or in places with limited communities who already know each other.

"Although it is still in a pandemic atmosphere, thank God, thanks to the hard work of all parties, the Covid-19 case in Indonesia can be controlled so that this year's Ramadan, Muslims can worship, can perform obligatory prayers and perform tarawih prayers in congregation in mosques," Jokowi said, as quoted by Antara. reported by Antara.

Jokowi reiterated that the government had given permission for the people to go home this year. However, maintaining health protocols because the COVID-19 pandemic is not completely over.

"Towards Eid al-Fitr, it is also permissible for you, ladies and gentlemen, who want to go home, so they can gather again with their parents, relatives, and beloved family back home," he said.

In addition to prokes, Jokowi also reminded the importance of vaccination to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 virus. So he suggested for people who have not completed the vaccine dose or have not received a booster vaccine, to immediately complete it.

He also invited the momentum of Ramadan 2022 to increase faith and piety. "Happy worship in the month of Ramadan, may Allah SWT always protect the Indonesian people, amen, amen, robalallamin," he said.

Based on the Circular of the Minister of Religion Number 08/2022 dated March 29, 2022, the Ministry of Religion requires the administrators and managers of mosques/musalas to adjust the implementation of worship/religious activities in places of worship in accordance with the status of the level of Enforcement of Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) in their respective regions.

Managers of mosques/mushala may open the entire capacity of places of worship up to 100 percent if they are in the PPKM area at level 1. 75 percent for PPKM level 2, and 50 percent for PPKM level 3.

Managers and managers of mosques/mushala are also required to appoint officers who ensure the socialization and implementation of health protocols to all worshipers during worship.
