Strong Wind Strikes Kediri To Fallen Trees, A Number Of Vehicles Are Damaged

KEDIRI - A number of vehicles were damaged by fallen trees after heavy rains accompanied by strong winds hit the city of Kediri, East Java.

Head of BPBD Kediri Indun Munawaroh said the joint team immediately acted after receiving reports related to the impact of the heavy rain.

"The locations of the disaster incidents are spread out on Jalan Panglima Sudirman, Jalan Panglima Polim, Jalan Pahlawan Kusuma Bangsa (TMP), in front of the District Attorney's Office, in front of the Kediri Disbudparpora Office, and several other points," said Indun, quoted by Antara, Friday, April 1.

The impact of heavy rains accompanied by strong winds are reports of fallen trees. A number of vehicles were also crushed by the debris of the fallen tree trunk.

For example, on Jalan Panglima Sudirman, a fallen tree hit a pickup, a motorcycle and a car, with minor damage.

At the official residence on Jalan Basuki Rahmad, a fallen tree fell on the fence with moderate damage. At the Kediri City Hall, a fallen tree fell on two cars and suffered minor damage.

Likewise, in front of the Kediri City Disbudparpora office. An old banyan tree with a very large size fell and hit five cars parked under it.

In fact, on Jalan Pahlawan Kusuma Bangsa (in front of BPOM) there was a fallen tree so the officers were forced to completely close the road. As a result, motorists had to turn around to find another route, because the one-way lane on Jalan Pahlawan Kusuma Bangsa, Kediri City was closed.

Despite reports that many trees have fallen and hit a number of vehicles, for casualties, Indun said that until now there have been no reports.

"Reports that come to us are fallen trees, for the victims are nil," he said.

He also asked residents to be vigilant during heavy rains. It can also minimize casualties.

Endi, a resident of Kediri City, said that it was raining accompanied by strong winds. In fact, some of his friends' vehicles were also hit by a tree.

"Earlier it was raining very hard coupled with very strong winds. Several of my friend's vehicles were damaged by falling trees," he said.

Meanwhile, the evacuation process was carried out using various tools including tree cutting machines. Officers from the Department of Environment, Cleanliness and Landscaping (DLHKP) of Kediri City are also working with a number of other agencies to assist in the process of cleaning up the rest of the fallen tree material.
