'Turn On' The Danger Signs Of Drugs, Hundreds Of People Hit Kentongans In Temanggung

TEMANGGUNG - A total of 700 people made a joint declaration to eradicate drugs in Temanggung Regency, Central Java. The declaration was marked by beating the gong together.

The community components that participated in the declaration included the TNI, Polri, religious leaders, teachers, students, and community organizations.

The Head of the Kesbangpol Agency for the Temanggung Regency Government, Djoko Prasetyono, said the gongs were beaten together as an effort to give news about dangerous drugs. At the same time confirming the intention to protect children in Temanggung from drug abuse.

Temanggung Regent M. Al Khadziq in a written remarks read by the Regional Secretary of Temanggung Regency, Hary Agung Prabowo, said that through this activity it is hoped to increase public participation in efforts to prevent and eradicate drug abuse and illicit trafficking and increase public understanding of the impacts and dangers of drug use.

He conveyed that all are aware that in essence the younger generation is the figure of the next generation who will replace the wheels of this nation's leadership in the future, if the younger generation is trapped in drug abuse, this nation will experience very basic serious problems.

Some of the negative impacts that will be faced by the younger generation are the loss of a sense of caring for others, a decrease in the condition of moral awareness and a decrease in productivity.

He conveyed that in order to save the younger generation, the Temanggung Regency Government had formulated a policy to prevent and eradicate the dangers of abuse and illicit trafficking of drugs and narcotics precursors.

"In terms of overcoming the drug problem, it is impossible for the government to run alone, we really hope for the participation and support of all levels of society in the context of preventing and eradicating drugs. Support from third parties is also very important, in this case the district government continues to partner and cooperate with organizations community, private sector, universities, volunteers, legal entities, TNI, Polri and BNN," he said, quoted from Antara.

Head of the National Narcotics Agency of Central Java Province, Brigadier General Pol. Purwo Cahyoko expressed his appreciation to the Temanggung Regency Government for carrying out the mandate of Presidential Instruction Number 2 of 2020, one of which was the formation of Regional Regulation Number 1 of 2022 concerning the facilitation of preventing the eradication of narcotics abuse and illicit trafficking (P4GN).

"This is clear evidence that Temanggung Regency and its ranks are really ready to prepare a demographic bonus. We hope that this regional regulation is not only limited to a written document but can be followed up and synergized with institutions and the community and all existing stakeholders to be able to implement the regulation, " he said.

He said to support the handling of narcotics abuse in the Temanggung Regency area, the Temanggung Regency Government must also prepare a place of rehabilitation.
