Pastor Saifuddin Ibrahim Leaves Indonesia Since March After Video Requests 300 Viral Quran Verses
JAKARTA - The suspect in the alleged blasphemy case, Saifuddin Ibrahim, is strongly suspected of being in the United States. Based on coordination with Immigration, Pastor Saifuddin left Indonesia since March 2022.
"Our assumption is that we will (leave Indonesia) because it will be March 2022," said Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police Public Relations Division Kombes Gatot Repli Handoko when confirmed, Friday, April 1.
The estimated time of Saifuddin's departure from Indonesia to the United States is based on immigration data.
"Well, it seems that according to immigration data it looks like that month he left for America. Based on data from immigration," he said.
Saifuddin's departure abroad was also strongly suspected after learning that his video about the request to delete 300 verses of the Koran went viral on social media. After going viral, the case was investigated by the police.
"So, ever since he uploaded his account for the first time (uploading videos, res) he has been getting the spotlight from netizens," said Gatot.
Saifuddin Ibrahim had gone viral on social media because of his statement. He asked the Minister of Religion to delete 300 verses of the Qur'an.
The reason behind his request is because the verses are considered to be the cause of radicalism.
Saifuddin Ibrahim is also currently suspected of being in the United States. Bareskrim also cooperates with the FBI to find the whereabouts of the suspect in the alleged blasphemy case.
