Cai Changpan's Escape Hole Was Made With A Shovel For 8 Months
JAKARTA - Investigating the case of Cai Changpan's escape from the Class I Tangerang Prison uncovered a number of new facts. One of them is about the tools used to make escape holes.
Head of Public Relations at Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Yusri Yunus said drug convicts did not only use screwdrivers. Based on searches at the scene, Cai Changpan made a hole in one of them with a shovel.
"He used a shovel. The tools we found at the scene of the money were iron, screwdrivers and earthen sack chisels," Yusri told reporters, Tuesday, September 29.
Meanwhile, from the results of the examination of the witness who was a cellmate, Cai Changpan made an escape hole for eight months. The hole was made 30 meters long. But it was not explained in detail where the hole was made until it finally penetrated into the culvert.
"The length is about 30, down 2 meters from the culvert (outside the prison) to 30 meters," he said.
With the hole Cai Changpan made, it only took a person less than half an hour to get out of prison. This is known based on the results of the crime scene processing.
"Checking the crime scene there by taking samples of people who enter (into the hole) into it is indeed fit. It could take up to 20 minutes, because it is very small and long with a length of 30 meters," he said.
Previously reported, the whereabouts of Cai Changpan was known to have returned to his home in the Bogor area, West Java. This is based on the results of his wife's examination.
"Because the interval between him and his escape was about 4-5 hours, he arrived at his residence in the Tejo area, Bogor," said Yusri.
In addition, at the beginning of his escape, Cai Changpan was also seen by local residents. He is known to buy cigarettes at a grocery store near the Tangerang Class I prison.
"Several witnesses from the community around the prison did indeed see him buying cigarettes. We will do an examination, we are still investigating this," he said.
