The BPK Employee Who Became A Suspect In Extortion Of Hospitals And Health Centers In Bekasi Turned Out To Be The Head Of The Auditor Team

JAKARTA - The Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) Representative of West Java admitted that the person with the initials AMR who was caught in the hand arrest operation (OTT) of the West Java High Prosecutor's Office (Kejati) was the head of the auditor team.

"In essence, this AMR is really the team leader (auditor)," said Head of the West Java BPK Representative, Agus Khotib at the West Java High Prosecutor's Office, Bandung City, West Java, Thursday, March 31, quoted from Antara.

Agus Khotib will immediately reorganize the old team and replace all members of the BPK auditor team who are assigned to the Bekasi District Health Office.

During the OTT, two BPK officers were arrested, the initials AMR and MF. But the prosecutor's office only named AMR as a suspect because MF had not fulfilled two pieces of evidence.

From the OTT, the prosecutor confiscated Rp351.9 million, which was suspected to be the proceeds of extortion by AMR against one hospital and 17 health centers in Bekasi.

But so far Agus has not been able to confirm the audit findings in one RSUD and 17 puskesmas that were used by AMR to extort money.

If there are audit findings at a number of health facilities, Agus ensures that the BPK will follow up without extortion as was done by the AMR suspects.

"If there are further findings, we will process it further," said Agus.

As a result of his actions, AMR was snared by the West Java High Prosecutor's Office under Article 12 e and Article 11 of Law 20 of 2001 concerning amendments to Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning the eradication of criminal acts of corruption with a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and a fine of Rp. 1 billion.

This case began when the West Java Representative BPK conducted a routine inspection in December 2021.

"Then based on the findings of the West Java Representative BPK at the Bekasi District Health Office, the alleged APS perpetrator asked for Rp. 20 million from each puskesmas with a total of 17 health centers and Rp. 500 million at the Branch Bungin Hospital," said Head of the Bekasi District Attorney's Office, Ricky Setiawan Anas.

On March 28, 2022, APS contacted M to directly hand over the money to the West Java Representative BPK. At that time, doctor A from the Community Health Center (Puskesmas Forum) prepared Rp. 250 million while Doctor M from RSUD Branchbungin was only able to provide Rp. 100 million.

"The Branch Bungin Regional Hospital was afraid but was only able to fulfill an amount of Rp. 100 million," he said, quoted by Antara.

On March 29, 2022, the Bekasi District Attorney's Team, who received information regarding extortion by the West Java Province BPK, then followed up to reveal the truth of handing over Rp350 million to APS.
