MAKI Reminds Andi Arief To Come To KPK To Be Investigated On Alleged PPU Regent Bribery Instead Of Being Forcibly Invited

JAKARTA - Coordinator of the Indonesian Anti-Corruption Society (MAKI) Boyamin Saiman reminded the Chairman of the Election Winning Body (Bappilu) of the Democratic Party Andi Arief to obey the summons of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). According to him, this step must be taken because the summons must be attended.

This was conveyed because Andi Arief refused to attend the KPK to provide information regarding the alleged receipt of bribes by the North Penajam Paser Regent (PPU) Abdul Gafur Mas'ud.

"This (Andi Arief's investigation) is a citizen's obligation. So you must attend," Boyamin told reporters quoted on Thursday, March 30.

If he continues to dodge, it is not impossible that Andi will be forcibly picked up by the KPK. "Supposedly Andi Arief could come to the KPK at any time as a form of respect for the legal process," he said.

"In fact, if you are absent, you will be taken away forcibly," added Boyamin.

Furthermore, Boyamin said Andi could actually provide information to the KPK regarding his current address. So, the summons can be delivered correctly.

"If you are absent later, the order will be issued," he said. As previously reported, after his absence on Monday, March 29, the KPK again summoned Andi Arief. The summons will be sent back to his house in the Cipulir area, South Jakarta.

"We will reschedule by calling the person concerned at the previous address. We will send the letter to the address in Cipulir, South Jakarta," said Acting KPK Spokesperson for Enforcement, Ali Fikri, Tuesday, March 29.

The KPK hopes that the Democratic Party politicians will come to fulfill the summons as witnesses. Moreover, the statement from the Democrat Party politician is needed to investigate the alleged bribery that ensnared Abdul Gafur Mas'ud and the Treasurer of the Balikpapan Democratic Party DPC, Nur Afifah Balqis.

"The summons in question as a witness is certainly part of the process of resolving the case being handled by the KPK," said Ali.

"Of course, information from witnesses is important for the KPK investigation team to clearly and clearly reveal the intended act," he concluded.
