Visiting Late At Night, Lovers In West Aceh Are Threatened With Caning
JAKARTA - A couple without a marriage bond in West Aceh Regency is threatened with criminal sanctions by caning, after previously being caught in the act of a house in the village of Seuneubok, Meulaboh, West Aceh Regency on Sunday at midnight for visiting late at night.
There is also the identity of the man who was threatened with caning with the initials M (25), a resident of Pante Ceureumen District, and the female partner with the initials N (25), a resident of Meulaboh.
"We have secured this pair at the office, and are currently being examined by investigators," said Head of the West Aceh WH Police Satpol, Azim, represented by WH Head Aharis Mabrur in Meulaboh, reported by Antara, Monday, September 28.
Based on information, the unmarried couple was raided by residents because it was suspected that the male partner with the initials M stayed late at night to his girlfriend's house.
According to Aharis, the behavior of the man M and his lover N is thought to have made the people of Seuneubok Village, Meulaboh, West Aceh uneasy because when young M visited them, they often came home late at night and did not comply with visiting customs and violated the application of Islamic law that has long been in effect in Aceh.
Because the actions of the two were deemed unsettling, a number of residents and youths came to the house occupied by a woman with the origin of N, and found the unmarried couple in the house late at night.
"Meanwhile, the two couples have not been indicated to have committed adultery, because when the residents raided them, the male partner was in the bathroom and the female partner was in the living room," said Aharis Mabrur.
Even so, the attitude shown by the young couple violated Qanun (Perda) Number 6 concerning the Jinayat Law with the threat of public flogging, because the two were suspected of being in a place alone without an official marriage bond, he said. .
