Ahok Revokes Defamation Report, Police: We Process It
JAKARTA - The President Commissioner of PT Pertamina (Persero), Basuki Tjahaja Purnama alias Ahok, withdrew the report on the case of defamation. The police are currently processing this repeal.
Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Yusri Yunus said that his party would make a withdrawal report before the case process was officially terminated.
"An official report of the withdrawal is made and then held together with Wasidik Krimsus (Special Criminal) and then stopped," Yusri told reporters, Monday, September 28.
Meanwhile, Ahok's lawyer, Ahmad Ramzy, said the report on the case of defamation in electronic media was withdrawn on Monday, September 28. The report is withdrawn because the reported party and the reporter agreed to make peace.
"I have bridged the two suspects, they asked to meet Pak Basuki, I met the two suspects at Pak Basuki's house," said Ramzy.
The withdrawal of the report was also based on Ahok's pity because the two suspects were elderly. Moreover, they are willing to apologize and promise not to repeat what they did.
"The suspect is also a woman and some are elderly, so Pak Ahok's consideration is to withdraw this report," he said.
Previously, the police arrested two suspects of defamation and insulting Basuki Tjahaja Purnama and his family. They were arrested at different locations. KS was secured by Bali, while the suspect EJ was in Medan, North Sumatra.
The arrests were made after the police moved to follow up on Ahok's lawyer on May 17. From the results of the investigation, the perpetrator claimed to be a supporter of Veronica Tan, Ahok's ex-wife.
Because of their actions, the two suspects were charged under Article 27 paragraph 3 and Article 45 paragraph 3 Law Number 11 Year 2008 concerning Electronic Information and Transactions (ITE). Both face a maximum sentence of 4 years in prison.
