South Jakarta Fire Department Evacuate Kampung Cats Trapped For 3 Days On Palm Trees

JAKARTA - South Jakarta Fire and Rescue Officers (Gulkarmat) evacuate a village cat that is on a 15 meter high palm tree in Kebagusan, Pasar Minggu, Monday, September 28.

South Jakarta Damkar picket officer, Yusuf Setiawan said that it has been three days since residents heard the sound of a cat from the top of the palm tree located on Jalan Kebagusan Dalam I RT 007, RW 04, Kebagusan Village, Pasar Minggu District.

"Because the tree was too tall, the residents asked Gulkarmat Pasar Minggu for help to evacuate the cat," said Yusuf.

After receiving a report from Pak Amir, one of the residents reported it at 14.00 WIB. Gulkarmat officers in the Pasar Minggu sector immediately drove to the location by deploying two light rescue units (rescue cars) and nine personnel to carry out the evacuation.

The evacuation process lasted approximately one hour, the officers used a manual ladder that was placed on top of the Damkar unit car parked close to the palm tree.

Then the officer climbed the ladder from the top of the car to evacuate the black and white domestic cat from the top of the 15 meter high palm tree.

"At 15:15 WIB the evacuation was completed, the cat was handed over to the residents," said Yusuf.
