Garbage Scattered In The Dressing Room Of The Italian National Team After Losing To North Macedonia, Bonucci: We Were So Disappointed That We Forgot The Details

JAKARTA - Leonardo Bonucci apologized for the garbage left in the dressing room for the Italian national team. This happened after Gli Azzurri lost to North Macedonia in the semifinals of the 2022 World Cup qualifying play-offs.

In the match Friday, March 25, Italy was forced to surrender 0-1 by North Macedonia at the Renzo Barbera Stadium, Palermo. The defeat made Italy failed to qualify for the 2022 World Cup finals in Qatar as well as being the second failure after they ran aground at the 2018 World Cup.

This result is clearly a blow to the whole team, the deep disappointment felt made the concentration of players and the team dispersed. Even in the changing room, the atmosphere was not conducive so they forgot to clean up the rest of the garbage left behind.

The chaotic and trashy condition of the Italian national team's dressing room was then viral on social media. In the end, Gli Azzurri's side drew heavy criticism after their failure on the pitch.

Regarding the condition of the viral dressing room, one of the Italian players, Bonucci, apologized. Reporting from Football Italia, he admitted his team's negligence was triggered by disappointment.

"It was a big mistake, next time we will pay more attention to this. We are in a big disappointment and did not think about certain details that make a stark difference," said Bonucci.

"In the future we will pay more attention to this in the next matches. We apologize," continued the 34-year-old.

The same source also said that the apology was not only conveyed by Bonucci but also by Paolo Corbi. The viral video of the Italian dressing room being left in a state of chaos made the head of communication for the Italian national team speak up.

In addition to expressing an apology of course, Corbi also explained the situation of the team being pressed for time for their next trip in the midst of disappointment. Eating at that time really made them unable to focus.

"This is an aspect that we underestimated and we have apologized to Palermo Calcio. We had to catch a flight to Coverciano at that time where at the same time there was also great disappointment in our hearts," he said.

However, Corbi also stated the dressing room was not really left in a worse condition as seen in the video on social media.

"But, the condition of the dressing room is not exactly as shown in the video," he said.
