President Jokowi Reminds To Keep Money Circulation In Villages

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has asked each apparatus to continue to use resources and materials from local villages in building every infrastructure so that the circulation of money is maintained and the economic benefits derived from the Village Fund do not flow to the outside.

"Want to buy cement, buy it in the village, want to buy bricks in the village, buy it in our own village so that the money continues to circulate in our village, the furthest in the sub-district. Don't let the money go back to the city let alone to Jakarta, be careful, Come back here, be careful", said President Jokowi during the 2022 National Gathering of the All-Indonesian Village Government Association, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, March 29.

The President said that maintaining the circulation of money in the village, also helps to maintain the potential for economic growth in the village to continue. He said that every development budget for the village should be enjoyed by the entire village community. Therefore, any economic effects or benefits from development must return to the village.

That way, there will be a multiplier economic effect from every development budget in the village that is distributed. The economic benefits are also expected to improve the welfare of the community and reduce the level of poverty in the village.

"Want to buy eggs, additional nutrition for children, you don't need to go to the city. Maybe the price is adrift, but still buy in our village because the money keeps spinning there, that's what ultimately supports our village people, and in the end, will reduce the poverty rate in the village", he said.

Overall, the President said the government had disbursed Rp468 trillion in village funds. He considered the funds large enough for village development.

The President appreciated the realization that the village funds had been channeled to build village infrastructure such as village roads, reservoirs, bridges, which were expected to support village economic growth.

There are also health facilities that have been built from village funds, such as clean water facilities, Posyandu, Village Maternity Boarding Schools (Polindes), Early Childhood Education (PAUD), Washing Toilets (MCK), and others.

"This is also from village funds and it will improve the quality of life, the quality of Human Resources in rural communities. No one doubts how very useful the village funds that we disburse to villages and it once again affects economic growth in villages, affects national economic growth", said President Jokowi.
