Vice President: Muslims Don't Consumptively In The Month Of Ramadan
JAKARTA - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin appealed to the public not to be consumptive during the month of Ramadan, as has usually happened in previous holy months.
"I hope that Muslims do not become consumptive in the month of Ramadan. Usually people fast, the night is like 'revenge', everything is bought, everything is eaten. That's not called fasting", said Vice President Ma'ruf Amin as quoted by Antara, Tuesday, 29 March.
The vice president appealed to Muslims to be concerned in the month of Ramadan by buying sufficient food or necessities and using the excess sustenance to be distributed to brothers and sisters in need.
"As ordered by the Prophet, whoever has an advantage, share it with others in need", said Ma'ruf Amin.

"Besides zakat, it is called infaq. The obligation of Muslims is not only zakat, but there is infaq, besides that it is also waqf. Waqf is a charity whose reward continues to flow because the goods will not run out", said the vice president.
