Will Smith Apologizes To Chris Rock For Oscar 2022
JAKARTA - The feud on the Academy Awards stage is not completely over. This time, Will Smith released an apology to Chris Rock for the Oscar 2022 events that grabbed the attention.
Sunday, March 27, Will Smith punched Chris Rock on the Oscar stage. The reason, Chris Rock made a joke about Will Smith's wife, Jada Pinkett who is going bald.
Moments later, Will Smith returned to the stage to receive the Best Actor award for his role in King Richard. He took the opportunity to apologize to the committee for his actions but did not mention Chris Rock at all.
One day later, the publicist and Will Smith released an apology to Chris Rock for his behavior on the Oscars stage.
“Violence in any form is toxic and destructive. My actions at the Academy Awards last night were unacceptable and unforgivable," Will Smith wrote on Monday, March 28.
“Jokes are part of the job, but jokes about Jada's medical condition were too much for me to react emotionally to. I want to publicly apologize to you, Chris," continued Will Smith.
The 53-year-old actor admitted he was wrong and felt that his actions were not a positive reflection of what he played.
“I was embarrassed and my actions didn't represent the man I wanted to be. There is no place for violence in a world full of love and kindness," he added.
Smith also apologized to the committee, producers and viewers around the world. He also mentions the Williams family which is the story of the film King Richard.
“I regret my actions tarnish what has been a beautiful journey for us. I continue to process," concluded Will Smith.
Reportedly, this feud did not continue to the law because Chris Rock refused to report Will Smith. On the other hand, the committee has not yet made a statement regarding the actor's actions.
