IPS Survey: Gerindra's Electability Increases Due To Prabowo's Loyal Voters
JAKARTA - Indonesia Polling Stations (IPS) researcher Alfin Sugianto said the results of his agency's survey showed the electability of the Gerindra Party had increased significantly compared to the vote gains in the 2019 election because of Prabowo's loyal voters.
"Currently, based on the IPS survey, the electability of the Gerindra Party has reached 16.5 percent or an increase of about 4 percent from its vote acquisition in the 2019 election," Alfin said in a written statement quoted by Antara, Monday, March 28.
Alfin said that one of the factors that caused a significant increase in the electability of the Gerindra Party was the continued loyalty of Prabowo Subianto's voters to choose the Gerindra Party.
According to him, if this positive trend can be maintained, it is not impossible that the Gerindra Party will compete closely with the PDI-P in fighting for the top position in the 2024 General Election.
"Meanwhile, the electability of the PDI-P is still the highest at 20.9 percent. Next in line are the Golkar Party at 11.4 percent, the Democratic Party at 8.3 percent, PKS at 7.7 percent, and PKB at 7.1 percent," he said.
In addition, Alfin explained that Prabowo Subianto's electability in first place reached 27.4 percent, second place Ganjar Pranowo with 18.9 percent electability, third place Anies Baswedan with 15.9 percent electability.
"The public seems to be more determined in their choice of the General Chair of the Gerindra Party to lead Indonesia for the period 2024-2029," he said.
According to him, although various possibilities could occur, given Prabowo's stable electability trend in 1.5 years, the chance for the Minister of Defense to become president is wide open.
The IPS survey was conducted on March 8-18, 2022 with 1,220 respondents spread across 34 provinces with a margin of error of 2.8 percent and a confidence level of 95 percent.
The survey used a probability sampling technique with a stratified random technique. Data collection using face-to-face interview techniques by trained personnel with the help/guidance of a questionnaire.
