BMKG Reminds Potential Of Heavy Rain In The Next 3 Days
JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency has monitored the activity of two atmospheric waves, Rossby Ekuatorial and Madden Jullian Oscillation.
Rossby Equatorial is a phenomenon of movement of the convectiveivity system of air in the atmosphere propagating westward and passing through Indonesian territory. Meanwhile, the Madden Jullian Oscillation is a phenomenon of movement of the air convective system in the atmosphere propagating eastward and passing through Indonesian territory.
"This will contribute to the increase in wet air masses that support the formation of rain clouds in the next few days," said Deputy for Meteorology at the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), Guswanto in a written statement, Sunday, September 27.
This condition is reinforced by the warm anomaly of sea surface temperature in Indonesian waters, the formation of a slowdown and convergence area that extends along the West Coast of Sumatra, the Karimata Strait, parts of Java, the Makassar Strait and the Banda Sea, and is supported by warm atmospheric conditions and humid in most parts of Indonesia.
Based on the analysis of some of the above atmospheric phenomena, BMKG predicts that in the next three days, moderate-heavy rain which can be accompanied by lightning and strong winds has the potential to occur in the following areas:
Period 27-29 September 2020, as follows:
- Aceh
- North Sumatra
- West Sumatra
- Bengkulu
- Lampung
- Banten
- DKI Jakarta
- West Java
- Central Java
- West Kalimantan
- Central Kalimantan
- East Kalimantan
- North Kalimantan
- North Sulawesi
- Gorontalo
- Central Sulawesi
- West Sulawesi
- South Sulawesi
- Maluku
- North Maluku
- West Papua, and
- Papua
Specifically for the Jabodetabek area, according to Guswanto, the concentration of moderate-heavy rain intensity is still quite potential in the Bogor area, especially during the afternoon / evening.
Meanwhile, for the DKI Jakarta area, the weather conditions were significant on September 27 at noon / evening with relatively decreasing conditions for the next 2 days on September 28-29.
The community, continued Guswanto, is advised to remain vigilant and be careful of the potential for extreme weather (tornadoes, heavy rain accompanied by lightning, hail, etc.) and the impacts it can cause, such as floods, landslides, flash floods, puddles, winds. tight, fallen trees, and slippery roads.
"The conditions mentioned above are dynamic and can change at any time according to the dynamics of the atmosphere in Indonesia. BMKG continues to monitor and update its developments," said Guswanto.
