Three Middle -Aged Men Missing In Manokwari Waters, SAR Drops 9 Rescuers And 12 Crew

JAKARTA - The SAR team from the Manokwari Search and Rescue Office, West Papua, conducted a search for a longboat with three passengers who had an engine failure in the waters of Manokwari, Sunday, March 27.

The head of the Manokwari SAR office, Monce Bruri, said that information that endangered human life was received by the Manokwari SAR office on Sunday evening at around 19.30 eastern Indonesia time from one of the victims of the longboat engine failure on behalf of Alwi Kamarudin.

"The SAR office received a report from Mr. Alwi Kamarudin, one of the longboat passengers, that he and two other people departed from Sorong district for Manokwari on Sunday morning at 07.00 eastern Indonesia time, but their longboat had an engine failure and was still adrift in the sea," said Monce Bruri, Sunday, March 27.

In response to the report, said Monce, he had sent a rescue team consisting of 9 rescuers and 12 crew members departing at around 20.00 eastern Indonesia time, to the location of the incident using KN.SAR Kumbakarna.

"The distance to be traveled is 18.75 NM and the estimated time is 3 hours of travel, with light rainy weather, 2 meters high wave, and wind speed of 3-10 kts to the west," he said.

He said the identities of the three longboat passengers who experienced engine failure were Kamarudin Alwi (43), Samaudin (40), and Arif (40).
