The Husband Who Stabbed His Wife To Death Admits To Being Hurt And Asks For A Divorce, He Says The Victim Doesn't Love Him Anymore

BENGKULU – The husband who stabbed his wife to death in Air Apo Village, Binduriang District, Rejang Lebong Regency is in danger of being hurt because the victim asked for a divorce. The suspect admitted that previously their domestic relationship was fine. But, recently, the husband felt there was something strange about his wife's attitude. The victim does not want her husband to hold her cellphone.

The Rejang Lebong Police Chief, AKBP Tonny Kurniawan, explained the chronology and motives of the suspect in molesting his wife. The horrific incident occurred on Saturday, March 26 at around 09.00 WIB.

Tonny explained that the suspect was arrested by officers from the Rejang Lebong Police and Padang Ulak Tanding Police (PUT) and assisted by the Air Apo Village Head. During the arrest, the suspect was hiding in a house in this area on Sunday morning at around 03.30 WIB.

To the officers, the suspect admitted that his actions were carried out because he was hurt because the victim (his wife) asked for a divorce. He said, there is another man and is not in love anymore.

Tony explained the perpetrator's motive. He said, when he heard the victim's request, the suspect immediately became angry. Moreover, considering the previous day the victim had left the house and returned to his parents' house in Taba Padang Village, Binduriang District.

Furthermore, Tonny revealed, at that time the victim returned again on the day of the incident with a piece of paper and a pen asking for a divorce. Then, continued Tonny, not long after that the suspect blindly swung a sharp machete type weapon he took from the kitchen, where at that time the victim was still in a sitting position and then hit the forehead, neck, right cheek, nose, hand right and left hand.

The head of the Padang Ulak Tanding Police (PUT) Iptu Tomy Sahri added that the relationship between the victim and the suspect was previously harmonious and has been blessed with a 12-year-old daughter.

"Based on the confession of the suspect, the perpetrator stated that since the past week his wife (victim) has behaved a bit differently, is quiet and doesn't want to be held by her cellphone. At their marriage they love each other and there has never been a commotion before," explained Iptu Tomy Sahri.

So far, the alleged perpetrator has been deposited in the Rejang Lebong Police Rutan, while for evidence, one sheet of white T-shirt belongs to the perpetrator, one piece of jeans belonging to the perpetrator, a marriage book and a machete.

The Resort Police (Polres) Rejang Lebong, ensnared the suspect with Article 44 paragraph 3 of Law Number 23 of 2004 concerning the Elimination of Domestic Violence with a maximum threat of 15 years in prison.

"The suspect is threatened with a maximum of 15 years in prison. After the arrest, conditions in the field are conducive," said Tonny, quoting Antara, Sunday, March 27.
