Anticipating Increased Food Needs Ahead Of Ramadan In Jakarta, Governor Anies Involves Three BUMD

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan said the need for food ahead of the month of Ramadan this time will increase compared to last year. This is because the rules for the implementation of Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) have begun to be relaxed.

For your information, currently Jakarta is still implementing PPKM level 2. In this regulation, the capacity of places of worship has been relaxed to 75 percent. Office activities, education, and other household activities have also been permitted, although there are still restrictions.

In fact, the government has also allowed going home this year. However, on condition that the third dose of COVID-19 vaccine or booster has been carried out.

Anies believes that community activities will also increase along with the easing of the PPKM. This includes the need for food.

"This year Ramadan will probably be more crowded, so the activities compared to previous Ramadan months this year will be more intensive," said Anies in Cakung, East Jakarta, Sunday, March 27.

Even so, Anies admitted that he was not worried about the skyrocketing food needs ahead of the month of Ramadan. Anies admitted that he had anticipated the problem by cooperating with three Regional-Owned Enterprises (BUMD), PT Food Station Tjipinang Jaya, Dharma Jaya, and Pasar Jaya to monitor food availability.

According to Anies, the three BUMDs have made preparations so that prices and stocks of the targeted commodities remain stable.

"These three are working to stabilize the supply of basic needs in Jakarta. So Alhamdulillah, all of them have anticipated it," he said.

Furthermore, Anies said the skyrocketing food demand is a cycle that always occurs every year. Therefore, preparations have been made long ago.

"So their supply has been prepared, we will continue to monitor it and friends can also use IPJ, Jakarta's food information," he explained.

Anies explained that the IPJ application could be used as a reference in determining food prices for all commodities. Therefore, residents of the Capital City are advised to download and use it.

"Therefore, housewives in Jakarta for basic needs at affordable prices in Jakarta, look at the IPJ. We will know the average price in Jakarta," he said.
