Police Embrace Residivists In Tanjung Duren To Protect Kamtibmas

JAKARTA - A number of recidivist criminals have been empowered by the Tanjung Duren Police to maintain the security and public order (Kamtibmas) in the Grogol Petamburan area, West Jakarta.

The Head of Tanjung Duren Police, Kompol Muharram Wibisono, said that this step was to conduct a mapping of residents who had been involved in the legal process for committing crimes repeatedly (recidivists).

"We embrace them, at the same time we provide education to cooperate in maintaining the Kamtibmas situation and not to repeat their actions again," said Kompol Muharram when confirmed by VOI, Sunday, March 27.

This step was taken as a form of colling system for the Tanjung Duren Police in maintaining regional security. The police have also coordinated with the local RT/RW apparatus in the Grogol Petamburan area.

So far, he continued, he had met the MK alias Rio, one of the empowered residents of the South Tanjung Duren Village, Grogol Petamburan. According to the police chief, he has often been in and out of prison in different cases.

"We provide education not to repeat his actions that violate the law, and to be more devoted to his parents and can provide positive values in people's lives," he said.

Furthermore, the Sector Police Chief hoped that the young man could cooperate with the Police to jointly maintain the Kamtibmas situation.

"The active role of various elements of society up to the RT and RW levels is very meaningful. For us to be more able to maintain a conducive Kamtibmas," he said.
