Thief Arrested At Gold Shop While Selling His Neighbor's Stolen Barang
PURBALINGGA - Mrebet Polsek Purbalingga Police succeeded in uncovering a theft case in one of the houses of a resident of Cipaku Village, Mrebet District, PurbaIingga Regency. The suspect with the initials AT (36), a resident of Cipaku Village who is still a neighbor of the victim, was secured along with the evidence.
The Head of Criminal Investigation at the Purbalingga Police, AKP Gurbacov, when giving a statement said that the suspect carried out the action at the house of the victim named Dodi Agus Fitrianto, a resident of Cipaku Village RT 2 RW 2, Mrebet District on Tuesday, last week.
"The method is to climb the wall around the house as high as approximately 3.5 meters. Then enter through the bathroom window that is not closed. Then take valuables in the house," explained the Head of Criminal Investigation, accompanied by the Head of the Mrebet Sector Police, AKP Iptu Surono and the Head of Public Relations, Iptu Muslimun, based on written information received, Sunday, March 27.
Surono explained that the valuable items taken by the suspect from the victim were a cellphone, gold jewelry in the form of bracelets and rings. In addition, the cash in the victim's bag was Rp. 3,550,000.
Based on the victim's report, the Mrebet Police Criminal Investigation Unit together with the Purbalingga Police Criminal Investigation Unit conducted a crime scene, asked for witness statements and then carried out an investigation to identify the perpetrator.
"The perpetrators that we have identified were then secured in the Bobotsari District area when they were about to sell stolen gold jewelry. The suspect was secured along with the evidence." Surono said.
The evidence that was successfully secured was one red backpack, three wallets, a silver Samsung Note 8 mobile phone, two gold rings, one gold bracelet, eight gold jewelery receipts and a number of accessories.
"Based on the suspect's statement, the stolen cash has been used up to buy various necessities, including buying cement and building materials for the construction of house foundations," he said.
The Head of Criminal Investigation Unit added that the suspect was subject to Article 363 of the 3rd and 5th paragraphs of the Criminal Code paragraph (1) concerning theft by weight. The penalty for this article is a maximum imprisonment of seven years.
