Having Gone Viral On Social Media, The Perpetrators Of Violent Theft In Ketapang, West Kalimantan, Were Finally Arrested By The Police

JAKARTA - The escape of MM (29), the perpetrator of the theft with violence in Ketapang, West Kalimantan, has finally come to an end. The perpetrator was arrested by the Ketapang Police who were hiding in an inn on Jalan Sisingamangaraja.

Ketapang Police Chief AKBP Yani Permana said the violent theft occurred Monday, March 21, at around 20.45 WIB. Then around Thursday, March 24, at around 16.00 WIB, the Buser Team of the Ketapang Police succeeded in arresting the perpetrator MM.

In addition to the perpetrators, the police officers also managed to secure evidence in the form of cellphones and money amounting to Rp. 800 thousand from the crime committed by the perpetrators as well as a sickle used by the perpetrator to threaten the victim.

The theft's action had gone viral on social media because the action was caught on CCTV at the victim's house.

"The perpetrator threatened the victim with a sharp weapon in the form of a sickle, the perpetrator's action was recorded on CCTV installed at the victim's house," Permana said in Ketapang, as reported by Antara, Saturday, March 26.

Permana said, the perpetrator entered the victim's house through the side door by knocking on the door and the victim opened the door, then the perpetrator immediately hugged the victim and threatened him with a sharp weapon.

Feeling threatened, the victim, who is a housewife, brought the perpetrator into the room and took Rp3 million in cash to be handed over to the perpetrator.

"After getting Rp. 3 million from the victim, the perpetrator immediately fled," Permana said.

For this incident, Permana appealed to the entire Ketapang community to remain alert to the situation around them.

"Increase security, such as by installing CCTV in residential areas and implementing the Security and Security System and others in an effort to eliminate the potential for criminal acts," Permana ordered.
