South Sumatra Police Investigate Police Personnel Shot To Death In OKI When Attacking Criminals
JAKARTA - The South Sumatra Police immediately went down to investigate the alleged shooting of a police officer to death in Ogan Komering Ilir (OKI) Regency.
The victim is Bripda MSMH (22), a member of the Opsnal Unit of the Satreskrim Polres Ogan Komering Ulu Timur. He died with wounds to his chest while on duty in an operation to ambush criminals, at around 10:00 WIB, Friday, March 25.
"It's still being investigated, we haven't been able to determine the cause," said South Sumatra Police Chief Inspector General Toni Harmanto when confirmed in Palembang, reported by Antara.
Inspector General Toni has dispatched the South Sumatran Police Team to assist the local police in conducting a crime scene investigation (TKP) to ensure the truth of the incident. According to initial reports, gunshots were heard at the time of the ambush.
"The team is still in the field to find out the truth of the (shooting) incident. But there is one suspected (perpetrator) "Asep" whose name will be confirmed later," he said.
Initially, the MSMH Brigadier General and the OKUT Police Satreskrim Opsnal Team received information that the perpetrators of the theft and weighting cases at a modern retail store in Gumawang Village, Belitang I District, OKUT Regency were hiding in the OKI Regency area.
The team then carried out an ambush operation to the perpetrator's hideout.
From there Brigadier MSMH was injured, then rushed to the Kayuagung Regional General Hospital for medical treatment, but his life could not be saved.
Currently, the body of Bripda MSMH has been taken to the Bhayangkara M Hasan Hospital in Palembang for an examination by a forensic doctor.
