Minister Of Energy And Mineral Resources Arifin Tasrif Encourages Millennials To Get Involved In Accelerating Energy Transition
JAKARTA - Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Arifin Tasrif advised the younger generation to continue to contribute greatly to society, nation and state, especially in reducing the impact of climate change. This was conveyed by while attending the Energy Transitions Youth Forum, Friday, March 25, as part of a series of agendas for the 1st Energy Transitions Working Group (ETWG) Yogyakarta.
"We are part of the energy transition, indeed the world is concerned about climate change, and we can make improvements to reduce the impact of climate change," said Arifin, broadcast via YouTube channel.
According to Arifin, at a young age this is an opportunity to participate optimally whose results will be felt in the future.
"You are 20-30 years old, you are still young. This is an opportunity for you to be able to participate. That is why this is the time for your generation to be able to support clean energy programs, especially in our country," said Arifin.
Arifin continued, Indonesia is a country rich in natural resources from fossil-based energy to renewable ones.
"However, what is not optimal is the technology to develop it," he said.
He added that one of the contributions of the younger generation that could be emulated is the "Patriot Energy", a program from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources that provides basic energy knowledge and community development in remote areas, as well as the Solar Power Initiative Movement Program (Gerilya) for students who are still sitting in college.
"Earlier there was a representative from the Patriot (Energi), there was a representative from the Guerrilla, we cooperate with Mrs. Tri Mumpuni to send energy patriots, young people to remote areas to be able to identify existing clean energy sources, and this is to be used as a basis for build electricity infrastructure to provide broad access to energy for the community. We will continue to strive for this program for us to grow and develop, "explained Arifin.
According to Arifin, what is important is the willingness to contribute and one example is the young generation who are willing to join the Patriot Energi, Guerrilla program, as well as support programs for other energy transitions.
"So I would like to express my appreciation for your participation, but don't participate for fun, we gather enthusiasm to do bigger things, real and real things that can really make a maximum contribution to the community. If the community has been helped then automatically the State will be helped," concluded Arifin.
