Dor! Police Bullets Lodged In Triyono's Right Leg Who Stole Dozens Of Batteries In 10 BTS
JAKARTA - Officials from the General Criminal Investigation Directorate of the South Sumatra Police arrested a suspect in the theft of telecommunications network tower equipment across districts/cities in the area.
The suspect, Triyono, 34, a resident of Jalan Naskah III, Sukarami Subdistrict, Palembang City, was forced to smother with hot lead by the Opsnal Team of Unit 2 Sub-Directorate III of Jatanras Ditreskrimum of the South Sumatra Police. Triyono was shot in his right leg for fighting back to try to escape last Wednesday, March 23 at around 00:25 WIB.
Head of Sub Directorate III Jatanras Direskrimum Polda Sumsel Kompol Agus Prihadinika, Friday, March 24, said that there were dozens of battery units in 10 towers of the telecommunications network (Base Transceiver Station) located in Palembang City and Banyuasin Regency which were stolen by the suspect last Sunday, March 20.
"After an investigation, it turned out that the suspect was a former employee of the provider there, so he already knew the condition and position of the backup battery when the electricity went out, the motive being the family's economic needs," he said as quoted by Antara.
The theft resulted in disruption of the telecommunications network which includes the tower transmit area and the provider suffered material losses.
According to the information from the suspect, he said, he sold the battery evidence to a collector in the Sekojo area, Palembang, with an estimated selling value of tens of millions of rupiah.
The suspect is currently being held at the South Sumatra Police Headquarters along with two pieces of evidence of personal protective equipment and the provider's work clothes, for further examination.
As a result of his actions, the suspect was subject to Article 363 of the Criminal Code concerning theft with a weighted penalty of imprisonment for a maximum of seven years.
