Deputy Chairperson Of MPR Facilitating Land Rights For Ex-GAM Combatants In Accordance With The Helsinki Agreement
JAKARTA - Deputy Chairperson of the MPR Ahmad Muzani facilitated the fulfillment of land rights for former GAM combatants as regulated in the Helsinki Agreement. The former GAM combatant was facilitated to meet directly with the Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning Sofyan Djalil.
"We have just received the submission of a list of 3,000 names of former GAM combatants from the Aceh Transitional Committee to the Minister of ATR or Head of BPN Sofyan Djalil. This is our initiative to facilitate in order to maintain our shared commitment to uphold the country's sovereignty, as well as to strengthen the spirit of nationalism for the sake of upholding the Red and White and the integrity of the Unitary Republic of Indonesia," said Muzani in a statement in Jakarta, Friday, March 25.
This was said by Muzani when receiving a delegation of former Free Aceh Movement (GAM) combatants through the Aceh Transitional Committee (KPA) which was attended by the Minister of ATR/Head of BPN Sofyan Djalil at the Parliament Complex, Jakarta, Thursday 24 March.
Muzani said that the fulfillment of the land rights was an implementation of the Helsinki Agreement which had been agreed by the government of the Republic of Indonesia with GAM as an effort to resolve the Aceh conflict at that time.
Therefore, according to him, it is important for both parties to jointly implement these commitments.
"This shows the commitment of both parties to maintain the integrity of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia, GAM recognizes Indonesia by continuing to join the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia and the government is committed to implementing the points adrift in that. One of them concerns the granting of land rights to 3,000 former GAM combatants for one person covering an area of two thousand hectares," he said, as reported by Antara.
Muzani said the Gerindra Party is committed to efforts to maintain the integrity and sovereignty of the country, this is in accordance with the message of the General Chairperson of the Gerindra Party, Prabowo Subianto, which is to always uphold loyalty to the nation and state.
Therefore, he considered, the completion of the implementation of the Helsinski Agreement must be a joint commitment to be implemented because it is part of the effort to distribute the welfare of all Indonesian people.
On the occasion, Minister of ATR Sofyan Djalil said that in accordance with President Jokowi's instructions, what has been a commitment in the Helsinski Agreement, the government has no objection to implementing it.
According to him, this is primarily concerned with improving the welfare and prosperity of the Acehnese people.
"The people of Aceh are people who have work tenacity and a strong entrepreneurial spirit. So this is expected to be a trigger for new economic growth in Aceh," he said.
In this activity, Muzani was accompanied by a number of members of the Gerindra DPR such as Fadlulloh, M Husni and Supratman Andi Agtas.
The delegation of former Free Aceh Movement (GAM) combatants through the Aceh Transition Committee (KPA) included Abu Rada, Tengku Ayub and Aceh Party spokesman Azhari Cage.
