2022 World Cup Play-offs: Wales Vs Austria 2-1, Gareth Bale Silences Critics And Real Madrid

JAKARTA - The Welsh national team is one step closer to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. They managed to win 2-1 over Austria in the play-offs which took place on Friday, March 25, early in the morning WIB.

Wales will fight for a ticket to Qatar with the winner of the match Scotland versus Ukraine. Scotland vs Ukraine match postponed due to solidarity after the Russian invasion.

In the match against Austria, two winning goals for Wales were scored by Gareth Bale. The first goal was scored in the 25th minute. Then the second goal was made in the 51st minute.

Meanwhile, the Austrian goal was presented by Marcel Sabitzer in the 64th minute.

Two goals from Bale became a "weapon" for him to silence critics, including his own club at this time, Real Madrid. After the match, he sent a meaningful message.

"I don't need to say anything, it's a waste of my time," Bale said, as reported by ESPN.

"That's disgusting. They should be ashamed of themselves. I don't want to make a fuss, period," he continued.

Bale also has the support of his compatriot, Aaron Ramsey. "It's not easy for him but to come and play for his country, it means everything to Bale. You can see from the way he plays," he said.

Bale was eliminated at Real Madrid. This season, the 32-year-old has made just five appearances for the Spanish La Liga club in all competitions.

Apart from injury problems, Bale was also made familiar with the bench by current Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti.
