Garbage Scattered In Pekanbaru Empty Land, Environmental Service Holds Raids, Meets Perpetrators Directly Sanctioned

PEKANBARU - The Law Enforcement Team (Gakkum) of the Pekanbaru Environment and Hygiene Service (DLHK) conducted raids on residents who littered with garbage considering the large piles of illegal garbage on vacant land in the capital city of Riau Province.

"Today we raided the side of the road to Labersa and Arengka two, we caught people littering and we immediately arrested them," said Head of the Pekanbaru City Environment and Hygiene Service through the Head of Environmental Management and Gakkum, Rezatul Helmi in Pekanbaru, Antara, Thursday. , March 24.

Rezatul said residents who were caught were immediately given a warning and sanctions for a deterrent effect so they would not litter again. "They received administrative sanctions and made a statement not to do it again," he said.

He explained that the perpetrators of littering are mostly independent garbage collectors from residential areas who are transported by pickup trucks.

"They admit that they do this activity independently by quoting garbage from residents and then throwing it carelessly is what makes garbage scattered on the roadside. We have been reprimanded as the first warning," explained Reza again.

Reza also emphasized that the raids on littering will continue to be improved to make Pekanbaru clean and free from piles of garbage that cause unpleasant odors.

The DLHK itself dispatched 20 officers to control littering in several locations that are often used as illegal waste disposal.

He also appealed to the public to participate in reporting if there were garbage collectors and throwing them carelessly.

"For those who are caught or caught, they will be given strict sanctions up to a maximum fine of Rp. 5 million," he concluded.
