The Methamphetamine Seized In Pangandaran Weighs 1,196 Tons, Transported By Fishing Boats
BANDUNG - The Chief of the Indonesian National Police, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, said that from the disclosure of narcotics cases in Pangandaran Regency, 1,196 tons of methamphetamine were secured.
General Listyo said the coir-coir weighing more than 1 ton was wrapped in 66 sacks containing plastic boxes. The methamphetamine was transported by fishing boat.
"From the disclosure, approximately five people were arrested", said Listyo at the Police Intelligence Education Center, Bandung Regency, West Java, Thursday, March 24, quoted from Antara.
He mentioned the initials of the five suspects, namely SA (33), HM (41), HH (39), AH (38), and M (20). Of the five people, one of them is an Afghan citizen.
In addition to methamphetamine weighing more than 1 tonne, the police also seized a package of methamphetamine weighing 27 grams, a fishing boat, an engine unit, three cars carrying the methamphetamine, six cell phones, an ATM card, and an airsoft gun.
They were charged with Article 112 in conjunction with Article 113 paragraph (2) jo. Article 114 paragraph (2) jo. Article 115 paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 132 paragraph (1) of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics
This article carries a maximum penalty of death or life imprisonment.
Previously, the Directorate of Drug Investigation of the West Java Police thwarted efforts to circulate methamphetamine on the beach, Parigi District, Pangandaran Regency, West Java, Wednesday, March 16, at 14.00 WIB.
The methamphetamine was found wrapped in a sack with the condition hidden in a fishing boat. The methamphetamine was allegedly sent via the southern coast of West Java.
