Police Raided Homemade Alcoholic Liquor Factory In Sidoarjo

SIDOARJO - The Drug Investigation Unit of the Sidoarjo Police, East Java, thwarted the production of adulterated liquor in a house in Krembung District, Sidoarjo.

Sidoarjo Police Chief Kombes Kusumo Wahyu Bintoro said the house had been a production site for adulterated liquor for the past three months.

"During the raid on the rented house which was used as a place for the production of mixed liquor, the police managed to arrest one suspect with the initials IAS," said the Police Chief, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, March 23.

In addition, he said, at the location of the raid, evidence was obtained of five gallons of mixed drink, 24 bottles of adulterated liquor with a "Stanly hat" sticker, one pack of bottle cap seals, one electric pump, one pack of eagle glue, one funnel, one water filter, and a plastic barrel.

"The suspect mixed the liquor with only two ingredients, namely alcohol which he bought in Surabaya on the pretext of hand sanitizer and water," said the Police Chief.

The mixing method, he said, is a ratio of 15 liters of 92 percent alcohol mixed with five gallons of water and then put the mixed into a 950 milliliter bottle labeled "stanly hat". "After that it was closed with a seal," he said.

Not only producing, he said, oplosan liquor, the suspect also sold it directly to the Krembung and surrounding areas at a price of Rp. 40,000 per bottle.

However, this mixed liquor is very dangerous to the health of people who consume it and its circulation is prohibited.

"We apply three articles to the IAS suspect at once, article 106 in conjunction with article 24 paragraph 1 of the Republic of Indonesia Law No. 7 of 2014 concerning trade, article 140 in conjunction with article 86 paragraph 2 of the Republic of Indonesia Law No. 18 of 2012 concerning food and article 204 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code. The maximum penalty is 15 years in prison," he said.
