Fact: Road Accident Rate Increases By 3,000 Cases In A Year
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) noted that the number of road accidents still needs attention because it will increase to 3,000 cases from 2020 to 2021.
Director of Road Transportation Facilities at the Directorate General of Land Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation Danto Restyawan said road transportation safety is a big issue and is the main goal of transportation.
"The number of accidents and fatalities in our country is still quite high, in 2020 there were 100 thousand accidents and 23 thousand fatalities (cases). While in 2021 there were 103,000 accidents and 25 thousand fatalities. This means that in one year there will be an increase of 3,000 accidents and 2,000 fatalities," said Danto Restyawan in the FGD: Session of Road Transportation Safety Experts monitored in Jakarta, Wednesday, March 23.
According to Danto, this condition needs to be a common concern. All stakeholders are asked to work together to reduce the number of accidents and fatalities.
"All stakeholders must work together to reduce the number of accidents and fatalities because the impact is very long and significant," he continued, quoted from Antara.
Danto also invites all stakeholders to collaborate well, so that road transportation users can get better protection and safety levels.
"Road transportation safety must be given a high priority in our transportation management," concluded Danto.
